The Crickster and I want to do this so bad we can taste it! Kim took first place out of, I believe, 250 dogs. The run has to be “clean” – no missed contacts or knocked down bars – and the fastest. A ton of the dogs could not distinguish between the tunnel entrance and the dogwalk and ended up racing through the tunnel instead of racing across the dogwalk. Disqualified. Off course. At any rate, Steeple is a Harley/Scheme son and the Cricket is from Surge/Scheme – so that makes them? AWESOME DOGS!

HOB NOB Steeple wins AKC Agility Nationals this Weekend by Toni
Monday, March 30th, 2009Sundays with Nix, by Brenda
Sunday, March 29th, 2009Well, we finally got out today. It was cold (March in Washington State) and the sky threatened rain, then didn’t, then threatened again. It was awful enough that the only other people out at Grass Lawn park were sports players (most common), people walking dogs, and Oriental people – who seem to do outside exercise no matter the weather
, and are unusually unaccompanied by dogs. The highlight of our trip today was an elderly Chinese man out for his brisk walk. He has one tooth, and that one was brown and looked like it might fall out. He smiled broadly (displaying the tooth prominently) and complimenteds me on having such a well behaved dog. If only he knew that just an hour before she’d been racing the fence line in the mud with Cricket.
There are signs of spring, budding trees and shrubs that seem to have decided to carry on even though the temperatures are still nearly winter. Most of the in-ground flowers appear to have been planted. I did get one lovely picture I’m including here.

Bathing with Border Collies by Toni
Monday, March 16th, 2009
Cricket creeps. Ever since she started perch-work in pre-agility class she has become very adept at squeezing her little butt into very tiny spaces. In this case, she eeled up onto the outside tile (6×6) edge around the tub, then evidently crept behind the Brenda bather (who was obliviously lost in a book), and secured herself a choice viewing spot in the corner. Now how anyone can not notice a 30# border collie puppy oozing around them in the bathtub, I cannot say. But it happened. Whereupon I was summoned to the scene with my phone to snap a picture.
Sasha, not to be upstaged, immediately threw herself back into her traditional lurking position, ready to grab bubbles and play in the water.

- Little mini aussie
Brenda arrived home yesterday afternoon with two dogs in tow, one big and one little. She found them stranded in traffic on 148th – very busy arterial. Another woman had stopped and was trying to capture them. Brenda succeeded:>) Much flurry followed with making signs and posting them about, posting FOUND DOG ads on Fidos Finder and CraigsList. The big dog was very protective of the little dog. And the little one is old and mostly blind and arthritic. They were not starving and had trimmed nails, though – good signs they belonged somewhere! After another flurry of feeding and brushing and potty, they finally settled into the laundry room to sleep together. Brenda cooing at them throughout the evening.
Snowclumps the size of quarters
Sunday, March 15th, 2009Only in the Northwest. Snow is falling thick and soft, some of the clumps the size of my hand. The ground is unfrozen mud. It’s Sunday, and I’m getting over a horrid spring cold, so this backyard outing is probably all Nix gets.
The dogs are stir crazy – it has been snow or wind or rain for two days.
