The girls had a fabulous time harassing Nancy (Ten’s mom) and stealing toys back and forth. I’ve decided I really need a real camera! If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

- Three Dogs One Toy
I like this shot of three dogs and one toy. The middle dog is Ten – Cricket’s littermate. They had a play date today. You know you’re doing urban living at its very best when your dogs have dates with their sisters in the back yard. It’s also funny -reminds me that we’re middle-aged women with dogs (yes, we also have kids, but when I was younger, the dogs were as loved but not as spoiled). It’s as if the older I get, the more like people the animals seem to be, and the more I’m willing to treat them that way.
Give a Dog a Bone by Toni
Saturday, February 21st, 2009There were three dogs and three bones. One bone disappeared. I know what happened to it. It got buried. I know who buried it. It’s a secret, though, and I promised not to tell. That left two bones and three dogs. Then another bone disappeared. I know what happened to it. It also got buried – but in a different spot than the first bone. But by the same dog. Still a secret. But I’ll give you a clue. Cricket is staying attached to that last bone and she did not bury the first two. Smart Crickey.

Plants are teasing us in February
Winter in the NW is a funny thing. In late summer, the days begin to grow short and by Christmas time it seems lilke you can count the hours of daylight on one hand. Then February comes along and there is always a brief period of slightly warmer temps and sunshine and the early plants and bulbs seem to bud out overnight. But then the cold and grey return. And you know it’s just the mid-winter teaser. On the bright side, there is more daylight. The landscsape does begin to hold the promise of a real spring. In the meantime, wiggly giggly bones amuse some while others are happy with afternoon winter dozing.
Here you can the witch hazel and lavendar bursting open. Sasha with a noisy toy and Cricket preparing to snuggle up for a snooze:>)
Mmmmm by Toni
Sunday, February 15th, 2009Well, the beginning of a new year and here’s a silly test to burn a few minutes of your time:) I wonder if their are tarot cards for dogs?

You are The High Priestess
Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.
The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.
What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.
Border Collie Amusements

Sunday’s with Nix: Slowed down again! by Brenda
Sunday, February 8th, 2009
I chased a bus. No, this isn’t the dogs writing – it’s me. I chased a bus on Friday morning and made the achilles tendon I’ve been babying for months complain really loudly again. The worst part? I missed the ^&%$ bus even after I ran for it – so all I got for my trouble was the re-injury and the ability to stand in the cold bus shelter for a half hour and lecture myself on my stupidity. Today, I feel like I may not make Vancouver after all, and I had been hopeful since we managed an hour and a half last week.
As you can see, Nix and I did get out. We walked a half hour, slowly, with limp. We made twenty minutes again today, again with limp.
Arghhh!
But hey, isn’t she pretty? Everywhere we go, the people we pass smile at her. That’s the magic of goldens. All of our dogs are beautiful, but Nix just always looks happy, she seems to trail sunshine after her.
The picture is her by one of the lakes in Bellevue – I think Phantom Lake? At any rate, on the way between the blueberry farm and Weowna Park.
