And again, on a Saturday. Sasha and Cricket used to both be gone on Sunday morning, so we walked then. Well the sun was out this morning, and this time of the year, in the Northwest, that’s an irresistable draw to the great outdoors. Isn’t she the prettiest girl?
Anyway, I walked for a steady hour and a half. I have three months to get ready for the Vancouver Half Marathon. My achilles tendon DID hurt after the walk, and I limped a little the rest of the day, but it was worth it. We walked the Kirkland waterfront from one of the parks close to Caroillon Point up through the length of Heritage Park. The picture is Nix on the dock with Seattle behind her. She had a blast (and so did I).
I was tired enough by the time I got to the car that the Half Marathon feels far away – I’ll have to be sure and get in a long walk every weekend; rain, snow, or wind, or – hopefully – sun. Tomorrow I will take off of walking and go to the gym or do the dog park or both.

Sunday’s with Nix, by Brenda
Saturday, January 31st, 2009Songs of Ice and Fog
Monday, January 19th, 2009Yes, that’s a play on George R.R. Martin, but the dog park really did look like a fantasy world this morning. Fog lay thick and cold across tufts of tall grass with ice crystals clinging to dead stalks, and here and there, dogs and people wandered through what looked like gates between this world and the next, appearing and disappearing in the space of a few feet.
Walking to Marymoor
Sunday, January 18th, 2009
It was a glorious day! Mom stayed in all morning and me and the Sash were home with her and we kept barking every time a dog went by on a leash, hoping she got the idea.
Eventually momma Toni came home from flyball with the Crickster, so Sash would have company, and then mom took me out. We made it all the way to Marymoor, and mom took me off-leash. She kept repeating that it was more like dog zoo than a dog park.
There were a lot of people there.
Then I saw Toni and Crick and that made the end of the trip perfect. The picture is me and Crick playing.
Fun at Fido’s Farm by Cricket
Monday, January 12th, 2009
I got to go to Fido’s Farm and play with Ten! Ten is one of my litter sisters and she is the same size as me and really understands how to play. Not like the Nix at home who plays like a bear. Ten knows how to RUN!
And it’s nice to play with somebody that you can relate to. I mean, Ten is a tri. It’s too bad she got some of that muddy brown mixed up in her niice black and white fur. But, she’s black and white on the inside. AND we both have Hob Nob ears! I love my ears.
Sunday’s With Nix, by Nix
Sunday, January 4th, 2009Well, finally. We made it down the snowy path and around on the far side of the road (away from the piles of uck mom calls snowplow snot) and hit Grass Lawn Park. Usually we avoid the play areas, but they were empty today so we wandered through the new permeable surfaces (spongy stuff to walk on) and mom made me pose in about six different places. She liked this shot the best — it is rather good. I mean, I’m pretty there, right?
Mom got a new camera, so now almost every hair on my chin shows up.
Anyway, that was this morning — see almost no snow! Tonight it’s snowing again and Crick and I were out playing. The moms were NOT as happy about new snow as me and the Crickster.
But they were not miserable, either.
